Watched Avatar last week. Phew the 3D glasses sure were heavy, especially when wearing together with specs.. had to hold it with my hand throughout the show to offset the weight.

The show has good production values, the storyline is ok but it didn't agree with my own personal taste. I thought it was rather too idealistic and in particular patronizing (ie. condescending).

The guy slept with the heir's wife-to-be, helped to kill the tribe and destroy the land, and I am supposed to believe that the tribe and the heir will accept it all just because the guy calls you in a rather pseudo-respectful tone "brother"? Gimme a break!

And it is just so ironic that the show purports to show the sins of the Iraq/Afghan wars, ie. not respecting the natives and the war is really about exploiting resources, and yet it perpetuates another myth that the white man is supposed to be the saviour of the primitive savages (complete with the portrayal of the natives as swaying non-rational people).

This movie leaves me rather cold.
